On 27 March, I got to know that I have been selected as a mentee for the mentorship program conducted by CLIMB ( Connect. Learn. Inspire. Mentor. Belong), which is a women’s community at DTU. Kirti and Hritika are my co-mentees and I was paired with Deepti Singh as my mentor.

ABOUT THIS MENTORSHIP PROGRAM:

It is a 4-week program to give a platform to connect undergraduate women of DTU in STEM fields to women leaders in technology. The agenda of this program is quite flexible and focuses on the overall development rather than only tech-related skills. The task of each week is decided on a call between mentors and mentees.

WEEK 1 :

This week kicked off with a call where we gave our brief introduction, talked about our expectation and discussed our doubts. Our problems ranged from issues related to self-development ,projects , open-source, problems while asking for help and many more…On hearing all of us, Deepti Singh advised us and even shared her personal experience.

KEY POINTS OF THE CALL WAS:

  1. Communities play a major role. So go out be a part of them and volunteer.
  2. Data structures and algorithm is indispensable.
  3. Projects are important.
  4. Got to know about many programs like Rail Girls Summer of Code, Google Tech Makers, Women Who code.
  5. We were given a task which was supposed to be completed in one week. It consists of questions based on arrays and linked lists from various platforms like geeksforgeeks, interviewbit and leetcode.
